This has been an incredible week. I honestly can't believe how many incredible people I've met recently and how many people know about Chelsea Buns! The defining moment though, was when we celebrated my Mom's retirement from teaching and the Grade 3 class presented her with an absolutely incredible quilt as a parting gift. I already cried through the entire ceremony, but knowing what work went into that quilt I just couldn't believe it. The woman who made the quilt was there and I spoke with her at length after the ceremony. She was such a lovely human and it turns out that (obviously) we have many things in common!
This whole series of events just made me think how meaningful our hobbies are. Quilting, embroidery, cross stitch - our handiwork takes hours, days, sometimes even years. Although our recipients might not truly understand how much work goes into these items, we do. I think that's partially why we do these things: the heart and soul that we put into them, the associated reduction in overall stress and anxiety because of the focus we use to create. This experience made me exceptionally proud to be a part of this community.
On the Chelsea Buns news front, I feel like I'm in a time warp and can't believe it's already the middle of June! We added a "News & Press" page to the website, which hopefully will continue to fill up with amazing news! We also recently received and placed a bunch of orders to continue to grow our product line.
One of the biggest things we get asked for is kits. With this in mind we have a massively cool project that's being finalized in the background. When it's ready, it will be released in kit format. I will say this, it is a truly Canadian collaboration between 3 incredible individuals (me being the newest to the scene!) and I am so proud to be a part of that group. Stay tuned for more on that soon! But yes, get excited, kits are coming!
I just wanted to say again, that I am so humbled by all the support I have received from this community. I never thought that you guys would be so accepting and encouraging and it has added new purpose to my life. I am so excited for the future!
